Pequea Valley High School Reviews

Has anyone looked at the current rating of the school and the percentage of kids who go on to a four year program? PSSA standings and SAT averages are appalling. SchoolDigger.com currently rates PV at 442nd of 666 Pennsylvania public high schools. I know that this data is only part of the story, but my assessment is that there are low expectations for the students. I believe the administration is just happy if they go onto any advanced education, instead of helping them achieve higher goals and exploring advanced education beyond the standard local mediocre State Universities. Like another parent who provided feedback, I am financially unable to send my child to a private school.

Pequea Valley is a school that doesn't challenge me a lot. The students here do not care at all about their education and the school just tolerates it. They give students an easy pass out. The parents here also don't give a darn. The teaching is okay, but there are a few that could really get on everybody's nerves. This area is very depressing with a lot of people who don't give a darn about anything and think that the successful (people who care) people of the world should give their hard-earned money to them because it isn't fair (even though they could have been there if they put a little effort). All-in-all the school is okay, but the people here are just a real let-down and i cannot wait to leave. If you want to move to Lancaster County, move a couple miles down the road.

This school is very disappointing.

As a student at Pequea it is surprising to hear some (not all) parents complain. I have gone to this school since kindergarten and will be graduating in 2010. I love Pequea! Sure, there are things that it could definitely improve on, but overall it really is a great place to be a part of. For the people that say it does not offer enough opportunities for the students, I have to disagree. I think that it is up to the students to take the initiative. Clubs range in things such as business, farming, technology, volunteering, leadership, and many more. The small class size is great for learning, and teachers really seem to care about the welfare of the students. For as long as I can remember the faculty at Pequea has been encouraging my classmates to the the best that we can be.

Things are getting much, much better at PV. The new principal is amazing and is getting things done. Some of the teachers seem to complain alot, but they shouldn't. PV is great and on its way to the top.

Great school, I'm a senior at the moment, teachers are great, principal is awsome. Granted the sports teams are rather bad, but the fans are one of a kind. If i had a bad thing to say it would be lack of classes, the number of electives are low is what I'm saying, far to few, and also lack of diverse clubs, most of the clubs are for people who do well in class, no clubs like book club, or computer club or anything like that, most of the ones they have are FBLA, FFA, NHS, Student Council, nothing for every student. Overall I would say an amazing high school.

PVHS does have it share of trouble, but the new principal seems to be getting things turned around. We should all give Mr. Maron a few years to see what he can do. He comes from a school that I hear is very good, so he has lots of ideas and knows what to do. Give him time.

I absolutely loath sending my children to PVHS, but I can't afford private school or to move. My son, comes home every day upset about the other students, the lunch, the teachers. No one should subject their children to such a horror as PVHS.

Pequea Valley High School gives the children excellent personal attention. This is one of the benefits due to the small size of the school. However, the small size causes disadvantages such as the following: lack of diversity in the student body, as well as, in the staff, and lack of diverse acedemic classes and athletics. The school encourages parent involvement. Overall the teachers exhibit personal concern for the students and a desire to educate them to the best of their abilities. This school encourages the students to participate; however, there needs to be an increase in encouraging the students to use their abilities and move forward in life with them. There needs to be a higher percentage of the students going to colleges, etc.

The students are very narrow-minded in their view of who is acceptable into groups, being mostly fundamentalist Christian in viewpoint. This viewpoint is supported by parents. Grading is a bit skewed in favor of the student in AP classes, with fewer opportunities for the rest. Standards are not as high as they could be. District is divided by those who live in the town and the rest of us. Farming is not appreciated by the highest administration. Don't try to buck the system or present alternate solutions or you'll get in trouble.
